Description: Black Devon, Alloa, Central Region. A typical land-fill site on the flood plain of the rivers Forth and Black Devon, south of Alloa. Land-fill sites such as this are an impediment to development when in operation. When dumping has ceased and the area is landscaped there is still the potential hazard of bacterial action working on domestic waste and forming methane that migrates upwards and sideways into any structure. Mixing with air can form an explosive mixture.
