Description: | Carrock Fell Mine, Mosedale. Harding Vein. The vein is exposed here in greisen wall rock in the roof of the Harding Vein Level. Although comparatively narrow at this point the vein locally carries rich pockets of tungsten ore. Pale brown scheelite is conspicuous here: some, at least, of this mineral has replaced earlier wolframite. Unaltered wolframite may be seen near the hammer head. This tungsten-rich pocket is partly brecciated. Small vugs in this tungsten-rich ore have, at this point, yielded specimens of crystallized cosalite. |
