Description: | Hill of Candacraig, Ballater. Strongly deformed 'older basics' (top) cut by locally sheared 'younger basics' (bottom). During the structural evolution of the Glen Gairn area deformation became concentrated into discrete shear zones. This is demonstrated by the basic igneous rocks. The strongly deformed 'older basics' are cut by 'younger basics' with only localised shear zones. See also photo number D3770. |
