| Description: | Clothister Magnetite Mine, Sullom, Shetland Isles. The open works, seen from the hilltop and looking down upon the processing plant. Note the wooden supports for stability for the inclined faces. The orebody has an average width of 10 feet at the surface and an estimated width of 11 feet at the 72 feet level. Analyses of samples of the Clothister ore indicate an iron content of 60-70 per cent. The sulphur content was 0.5 per cent and occurs as pyrites. |
