| Description: | Clothister Magnetite Mine, Sullom, Shetland Isles. The adit on the lower slope of the hill showing the entrance and railway track. The adit mine was first cut during the detailed investigation by the Scottish Home Department between 1941 and 1943. At the time a longitudinal mine and several cross-cut mines were cut and a magnetometer survey was undertaken as well as a drilling programme involving the sinking of thirteen bores. |
