Description: Darnley Quarry, 9.7 km. south-west of Glasgow, Renfrewshire. A general view of the quarry face showing adits to the mines. The quarry works the Carboniferous Calmy Limestone to produce a building lime with a high cementation index. A front end wheeled loader is on the quarry floor, this type of machine is very versatile though limited by maintenance costs and especially tyre wear. There is an empty tipped truck on the narrow gauge railway lines at an adit entrance.
