Description: Darnley Quarry, 9.7 km. south-west of Glasgow, Renfrewshire. Two adits are shown entering the mine both with narrow gauge railway tracks. A turntable on the tracks is visible in front of and for the use of the truck. In the eastern half of Renfrewshire there has in the past been a considerable amount of limestone obtained both by quarrying and by mining. This quarry and mine works the Carboniferous Calmy Limestone to produce a building lime with a high cementation index. A horizontal or near horizontal passage driven from the surface for the working of the mine.
