Description: | The sharp break in slope at their north-west (left) margin marks the presence of Highland Border Complex rocks, exposed in Lime Craig Quarry (below the TV repeater station). These are serpentinites, Lower Arenig limestones and early conglomerates. They are overlain unconformably by the Lower Devonian sequence. Farther north-west lie Dalradian Leny Grits which here underlie the forested ground (left centre). Loch Venachar and Callander are seen to the north-east. The prominent ridge features of the Menteith Hills reflects the variable nature of the steeply south-east dipping Lower Devonian conglomerates and sandstones against the Highland Boundary. |
