Caption: Oblique aerial view north-west from Aberfoyle to Beinn an Fhogharaidh, Beinn Bhreac and Ben Venue.
Description: The trend of the folds and regional bedding and cleavage here is anomalous and strikes east-south-east. Similar ridges are seen on the northern slope. Beyond Ben Venue and Beinn Bhreac the regional foliation and overall bedding are gentle dipping to sub-horizontal. The hills seen around Loch Katrine lie in this 'Flat Belt' whereas those in the foreground make up the 'Steep Belt'. The broad ridge of Beinn an Fhogharaidh - Ben Bhreac has been smoothed by glaciation. The prominent rock ridge feature represents an early fold hinge in a resistant arenite unit of the Ben Ledi Grits (Dalradian).
