Description: | Oblique aerial view west-south-west of Conic Hill, Loch Lomond and the Firth of Clyde. Conic Hill is formed of massive, thick, steeply south-easterly dipping Lower Devonian conglomerates whose dip decreases rapidly to the south-east. Sandstones are also present at higher levels beneath till and sands and gravels. The line of islands across Loch Lomond define the Highland Border and this feature continues up Ben Bowie. Loch Lomond lies just 7 - 9 m. above Ordnance Datum and in postglacial times was an arm of the sea before isostatic recovery resulted in land uplift. |
