Description: | Oblique aerial view south-west of the Endrick Water and Loch Lomond. Endrick Water ox-bows and Loch Lomond. The lower course of the Endrick Water contains many tight meanders and old ox-bow lake features, seen here as there is localized flooding. Marine deposits and sands and gravels and earlier tills were also pushed south-eastwards from Loch Lomond to form the large low relief moundy terrain between Gartocharn and Balloch (upper centre). Deposition of sand and gravel at the River Leven outlet also raised the level of Loch Lomond. The Endrick Water and Blane Water Valley were the sites of deposition of sand and gravel and a glacial lake during the Loch Lomond Readvance. |
