Caption: | Oblique aerial view looking north to Ben Lomond from Rowardennan Forest. |
Description: | These beds form the elongate protuberance seen at the lower edge of the ridge along which the main path traverses. Permo-Carboniferous quartz-dolerite dykes traverse the lower ground in the pine forest. They trend east-north-east in this area. The steep eastern shore of the central part of Loch Lomond is seen to the west. The smooth southern slopes of Ben Lomond and Ptarmigan are underlain by steeply south-south-east dipping Ben Ledi Grits (Dalradian) and on the lower ridge (right) by 'Green Beds'. |
