Caption: Oblique aerial view south-south-east of Ben Lomond (left) and Ptarmigan (middle right) ridge, Loch Lomond.
Description: The lower part of Loch Lomond is much shallower than the upper parts and contain numerous islands. Dalradian rocks stretch down to the first set of islands and from Ben Lomond to there they dip very steeply to the south-south-east ('Steep Belt') forming smoother topography. These are composed of sub-horizontal to gently south-south-east dipping Ben Ledi Grits (Dalradian). The traces of the main internal units show as prominent features on the northern flanks of the hills.
