Description: Taken from a spot not far E. of Auchengruith Cottage. Panorama: glaciated Ordovician Hills (b 2 and 3) of the Southern Uplands with a flattish foreground of Carboniferous sediments (mainly ? d 5 sandstone) forming unconformable cappings on Ordovician. The flattish foreground extends from about 213 m. to 305 m. and is believed to represent the 305 m. Pliocene Platform. Part of Shiel Burn seen trenching Ordovician hills in background.
