Caption: | South-west flank of Conic Hill. View south-west down the Gualann Fault of Loch Lomond. The Highland Border and Loch Lomond. |
Description: | The obvious hollow and dry valley are the location of the Gualann Fault that separates the conglomerate from serpentinite that forms the subsidiary grassy-heathery ridge to the north-west (right). The low ground and island of Inchfad are underlain by Upper Devonian - Lower Carboniferous sandstones. In the far distance are the Arran Hills. The hill to the south-east and continuing ridge across Loch Lomond are composed of steeply-dipping Lower Devonian conglomerate. |
