Caption: | View north-west from Duncryne Hill of Loch Lomond, the Arrochar Hills and Ben Lomond. |
Description: | The line of islands define the Highland Boundary. Ben Lomond (right) consists of Dalradian turbiditic arenites and wackes with some 'Green Beds' now all metamorphosed to greenschist facies assemblages. The Cobbler and Arrochar Hills (left centre) are Caledonian diorites. In the foreground morainic material dominates. The first line of islands (Torrinch, Inchcailloch) consist of steeply-dipping Lower Devonian conglomerates and Highland Border Complex rocks. |
