Description: | Taken from below Diollaid a' Chairn. Looking south-south-west to Coire Sgoir, Loch an Sgoir and Sgor Iutharn. Inverness-shire. View of the west and south parts of Coire Sgoir in midsummer. The north-east ridge of Sgor Iutharn is called Lancet Edge. On lower part of the ridge (extreme left) are semipelites and psammites in a syncline. The beds forming the cliffs of Coire Sgoir are dominantly psammites, typically disposed in steep attitudes (form south-east part of Kinlochlaggan Steep Belt). Below Lancet Edge the beds young to the south-east (left). The psammites become folded, migmatitic gneissose and more massive towards the first major slide, which can be traced from about the nick in the skyline down the stream to Loch an Sgoir. Note Loch Lomond Readvance moraines to south-east (left) of loch below Lancet Edge. |
