Description: Tors of Mither Tap, Bennachie taken from about 600 m. north-west of Mither Tap, looking south-east. Aberdeenshire. Close-spaced subhorizontal joints and rather wider-spaced vertical joints in Bennachie granite give rise to typical tor-shaped landforms. Tors are residual masses of rock left by differential denudation of harder and softer material. This may be selective subsurface weathering followed by removal of the weathered material or by differential frost-shattering.
