Description: Mote of Mark (Rockcliffe) 7 km. south of Dalbeattie, looking south-east. Kirkudbrightshire. The middle ground is Barcloy Hill/Castlehill Point, while the background is the English Lake District. Underlying the foreground is the Criffel-Dalbeattie granitic mass emplaced in the Lower Old Red Sandstone age while beyond are the Silurian Riccarton Beds and porphyrite minor igneous intrusions of the same age as the granite.
