Description: Findlater Castle, Banffshire. Findlater Castle on lineated sub-vertical Findlater Flags. Main Castle fortification built in mid-15th century by Sir Walter Ogilvie. Originally built by Sinclair - (Fin de la terre). Findlater Castle built into moderate to steeply-dipping semi-pelites and micaceous psammites of the Findlater Flags. A prominent clean quartzite horizon forms the backbone of the peninsula. Possible minor landslipping has occurred directly beneath the castle.
