Description: | Findlater Castle by Cullen, Banffshire, showing its position in the side of a promontory composed of steeply-dipping to sub-vertical Findlater Flags. The prominent clean Findlater Quartzite occurs on the right of the photograph. The beds young to the right (east). Note the small landslip on which the castle is directly built. The name Findlater is reportedly derived from the French 'Fin de la terre'. |
