Description: View east along the strike of the Bogancloch-Insch basic body from Meikle Cairn, on Deveron Bogie watershed north of Buck of Cabrach. The intrusions were emplaced during the Caledonian Orogeny. The hill on the right (Peddie's Hill) is formed of serpentinite at the southern margin of the basic body. Behind in the distance are the Correen Hills (Upper Dalradian metagreywackes). In the far central distance are the Red Rock Hills composed of syenite, a sliver of which is found in the valley immediately left of Peddie's Hill (by small round wood). The Insch basic intrusion which has been dated at c. 489 Ma. is one of a suite of basic and ultrabasic rocks that have been intruded into the Dalradian rocks of the north-east Grampians. The Bogancloch intrusion is the western continuation of the Insch mass.
