Description: Ballater. Aberdeenshire. View over the lower part of Glen Gairn to Lochnagar from Peter's Hill, from the Dalradian metasediments to the Lochnagar Granite complex. The foreground and middle distance are underlain by middle Dalradian metasediments and metabasic rocks while the Lochnagar Granite complex forms much of the skyline. The latter was emplaced as a zoned pluton of four main phases, each multicomponent. The Lochnagar Granite forms part of the Cairngorm suite of igneous plutonic bodies that extend from the Monadhliath pluton in Strathspey to Peterhead.
