Description: | Macduff's Castle, East Wemyss. Fife Region. The castle stands on cross-bedded sandstone of the Carboniferous Middle Coal Measures. The castle is probably built of the pinkish rather careous weathering local sandstone that is seen in the foreground. Note the minor curved laminae at an angle to the main horizontal bedding planes to the right of the outcrop, this is the cross-bedding. |
