The foreground, on Castlelaw Hill is composed of Lower Old Red Sandstone rhyolite. Trachyte occurs on the south side of reservoir. Rullion Green Hill (left of Turnhouse) in basalt. In the far distance view are the Midlothian Coalfield, Cloich Hills and Southern Uplands. |
