Description: The Knock, vent and plugs, Largs, from the south. Ayrshire. One of four basaltic vents cutting the Devonian and Carboniferous sediments beneath the volcanic rocks and in the area south of the Clyde. A Lower Carboniferous age vent of agglomerate with a central plug of Dunsapie-type olivine-basalt, intruded into Upper Devonian sediments. The body of basaltic tuff and agglomerate has a diameter of about 400 m. and contains sandstone blocks.
