Description: | The Harbour, Dunbar, East Lothian. Cliffs cut into volcanic vent agglomerate of Carboniferous Calciferous Sandstone Measures age, representing a collapsed bedded tuff. The ruins of Dunbar Castle is situated on a raised beach platform. The vent at Castle Rocks straddles the entrance to the New (Victoria) Harbour. It is partially obscured by the wall of the old castle, where shattered indurated sandstones dip westwards towards the neck. The tuff is red and green and contains evenly distributed lapilli and older tuffs up to one foot across. |
