Description: West and East Lomond Hills viewed from Glenrothes Golf Course, looking north. Fife Region. The Lomond Hills are essentially formed of igneous intrusive quartz-dolerite sills. The summit of West Lomond Hill is formed of a Carboniferous nepheline basanite intrusion (plug), while East Lomond Hill is a teschenite plug with some vent agglomerate. The saddle and dip-slope are mainly formed by the Midland Valley quartz-dolerite sill.
