Description: Cleish sand and gravel-pit, Mawmill. Perth and Kinross. After extraction of sand and gravel the land has been restored to farmland with little indication of the former workings. The sands and gravels came from Devensian fluvioglacial deposits. The field in the foreground was landscaped during the previous summer. This deposit is typical of the small scale and widely scattered deposits found in the Midland Valley. As transport is the main cost the aggregates would have been used locally.
