Description: | The Ochil Hills from 0.5 km. north of Powmill. Perth and Kinross. Looking westwards from Powmill towards Stirling with the fault-bounded Ochil Hills to the right and the Gargunnock Hills in the distant left. The Ochils are formed of volcanic rocks of Lower Devonian age. Along with the Sidlaw Hills, Pentland Hills and Carrick Hills they were part of a widespread Caledonian calc-alkaline igneous province that now forms prominent upland areas. |
