| Description: | West-north-west of Cnoc na Moine by forestry fence, above Glen Urquhart. Inverness-shire. Contact between serpentinite and metamorphic rocks of Glen Urquhart complex. The contact forms the small valley (with birch tree) in the middle of the photo. The foreground is of serpentinite, the ridge in the middle ground shows a succession of kyanite-biotite schists, limestones and psammites, locally much folded. The copse in the right background is the area of the Gartally limestone quarries. The nearest ridge in the background is the Old Red Sandstone on the south side of Drumnadrochit Bay, and the far background is on the south-east side of Loch Ness. |
