Description: | View looking south from top of Cnoc na Moine, above Glen Urquhart. Inverness-shire. General view of the Glen Urquhart Complex an ultrabasic body of serpentinite intruded into semipelites and psammites of the higher units of the Loch Eil Division. The immediate foreground is of Moine psammitic gneisses with amphibolite lenticles. The middle ground, beyond the loch (Loch an Sgorr Gaoithe), is largely formed of limestones, and the Gartally quarries lie in the woods to the right. The forested ridge in the background is entirely in Moine, on the south side of Glen Urquhart. The Old Red Sandstone peak of Meall Fuar-mhonaidh can just be seen on the left horizon. |
