Description: View from Cnoc na Moine, above Glen Urquhart, looking east. Inverness-shire. General view of the Glen Urquhart Complex an ultrabasic body of serpentinite intruded into semipelites and psammites of the higher units of the Loch Eil Division. The crags in the foreground are of Moine psammitic gneisses with amphibolite lenticles. The green grassy ridge in front of the group of crofts (Balnagrantach) is of limestone, and the ridge of the crofts themselves is again of Moine gneisses, the edge of the complex running between the two ridges. The long green ridge with scattered trees in the middle ground (Craig Achmony) is also of Moine psammites, but the thickly forested ridge in the left background is of Old Red Sandstone (Creag Nay). A small area of Drumnadrochit Bay on Loch Ness, and of the south-east side of Loch Ness, can be seen in the right background.
