Description: Near Syde. Lanarkshire. Looking south. The Howgate esker. Sinuous ridge of sand and gravel orientated in a north to north-easterly direction and surrounded by deposits of glacial till. Lochlyoch Hill is on the left and Howgate Hill on the right, both are formed of the same Lower Old Red Sandstone felsite igneous intrusion. The foreground is underlain by Lower Old Red Sandstone sedimentary rocks.
