| Description: | Uig Lodge, near Uig, west Lewis. Outer Hebrides. An arcuate kame extending from Uig Lodge in the background left, to behind the observer. There has been some controversy about what this arcuate drift mound is. It has been suggested that it is an end moraine deposited by ice that occupied Camas Uig, an end moraine deposited by a glacier emerging from the valley of Loch Suainaval, as an esker and most recently as one of a series of kames, eskers and morainic mounds that were associated with subglacial drainage towards the Glen Valtos channel. |
