Description: Glen Valtos, near Uig in west Lewis. Outer Hebrides. The Glen Valtos subglacial meltwater channel is viewed from near the centre. It is excavated entirely from rock. The meltwaters flowed from west to east, towards Loch Roag, this implies a thicker mass of ice off the west coast of Lewis than onshore. As one would expect the thicker ice inland near the mountain sources, this is anomalous.
