The beach and sand-dunes across the bay are Luskentyre Banks. Traigh Seilebost, on the extreme right is a spit-like feature forming across the estuary of the Laxdale River. Many parts of the hinterland backing the sandy beaches are characterized by dunes and extensive flat and gently sloping stretches of blown sand only a little above sea level called machair. |
