Description: Oblique aerial view of the village of St. Monance, centred on the harbour and showing the St. Monance syncline in the Lower Limestone Group, Lower Carboniferous. This section of the Lower Limestone Group is regarded as the best exposed on the coast. All but the topmost beds are seen exposed on the limbs of the fold. Note how the basic structure of the syncline can be seen by the pattern of rocks offshore from the harbour.
