Description: Looking north from Ardhasaig. Outer Hebrides. Lewisian gneiss topography of the North Harris hills, Uisgnaval Beg on the left and and Uisgnaval Mor to the right. The Lewisian rocks were formed prior to 2800 Ma. ago and have been repeatedly modified under conditions of high temperature and pressure deep within the earth's crust. The intensity of the deformation and metamorphism has obscured their original nature and relationships.
