Description: Looking south-east from jetty at Loch Suainaval, west Lewis. Outer Hebrides. Cliffs of Lewisian gneiss and granite of Uig Hills-Harris granite complex (west face of Suainaval and Sron ri Gaoith). The complex consists essentially of a series of granitic veins and sheets ranging in thickness from a few centimetres to several hundred metres. Suainaval is a good example of a location where the dip and scarp slopes are formed of one of the largest sheets. It is thought that the complex represents the upper portion of a dome-shaped granitic-migmatite complex consisting of intrusive granite and granitized country rock.
