Description: Looking south from Achmore. Outer Hebrides. Typical Lewisian gneiss topography of Central Lewis looking south-west to Uig Hills-Harris granite migmatite complex. The granite complex covers about 420 square kilometres extending from the Uig Hills of Lewis southwards through western Harris to the edge of the South Harris complex. The granites are late-Laxfordian in age (Precambrian) and have been shown to have radiometric ages of c. 1710-1715 Ma.
