Description: Higher Southcombe Farm, Piddletrenthide. Spurious Chalk Rock. The hardground known as the spurious Chalk Rock crosses the photograph about half-way up. It consists of a very hard splinter chalk with a well-defined top surface. The top of the bed is orange-stained and contains patches of glauconite. The beds above and below are hard nodular chalk of the Lewes Chalk.
