| Description: | Oblique aerial view near Head of Loch Voil Glen. Central Region. The valley is cut into the Beinn Bheula Schists (Upper Dalradian) which were deposited in the late Precambrian or early Cambrian. A headwater of the early River Forth may have run along the line of this valley at the head of Loch Voil, west of Balquhidder. Subsequent glacial action during the Pleistocene deepened and widened the valley, giving it a U-shaped cross-section and mantling the lower slopes with morainic drift. |
