Description: The valley of the Clyde looking north from Quothquan Law, Libberton. Lanarkshire. The river meanders across a flood plain about 400 m. to 500 m. wide margined by low hills composed of a thin cover of till on bedrock. River cliffs occur locally. The bedrock on Quothquan Law is trachyte of Lower Old Red Sandstone age while in the distance on the plain there are basaltic lavas of Calciferous Sandstone Measures age (Carboniferous).
