Caption: Oblique aerial view of Maclean's Nose, the south coast of Ardnamurchan. Highland Region.
Description: An exposure of the vent wall against Moine schist occurs on the shore near the point of the nose. It can be demonstrated that the junction is steep or vertical. Agglomerates form the high cliffs which may be pictured as the cast of the crater, the walls of which have been eroded away. The cliffs extending up to 800 feet above sea level are formed of vent agglomerate, part of a volcanic vent complex associated with the Tertiary central igneous complex of Ardnamurchan.
