Description: Roadside near Windy Harbour NW of Chipping. The south face of Parlick (432 m.) showing the prominent gullies incised into the Upper Bowland Shales capped by the Pendle Grit. The concentration of such gullies here is unique in the Bowland Fells area and their origin is problematical. Subglacial drainage and the great cloudburst of 1851 may have been causative factors.
