Caption: Oblique aerial view of the Bay of Laig, Eigg, looking north-east. Highland Region.
Description: Beneath the upland cliffline is a spectacular landslipped area, the landslip deposits form a continuous transition from glaciogenic material to debris formed by the rotational slip. It is thought that the landslips took place because the stability of the plateau had been disturbed by ice action during the main Late Devensian glaciation. Tertiary plateau basalts form the high ground and upland cliffline. Jurassic sediments form the greener grassy area which slopes down to form a raised beach feature around the bay. The sea cliffs in the foreground are also formed of basalts.
