| Description: | Oblique aerial view of Dibidil, Rum looking north-east. Highland Region. The contact between the Torridonian (Precambrian) and Tertiary Igneous Complex. Lower slopes and sea cliffs are composed of landward-dipping Torridonian sandstone which is intruded and overlain by various rock types of the Tertiary Igneous Complex forming the higher ground. Skye can be seen in the distance. A belt of Middle to Upper Proterozoic sedimentary rocks stretches for 200 km. from Cape Wrath to Rum. They are predominantly fluvial clastic deposits (red beds) and are collectively referred to as the 'Torridonian'. |
