| Description: | This granophyre is part of the first stage of development of the igneous Rum Central Complex, namely, the early acid magmatic phase.The granophyre is characterized by a well-developed granophyric texture with quartz and turbid brown, alkali-feldspars in a micrographic intergrowth. Looking to north-east. Cliffs of granophyre of the Western Granite are cut by basaltic dykes and inclined sheets at A' Bhrideanach, the western end of Rum. The prominent wave-cut platform at about 20 m. above the shoreline is a pre-Late Devensian coastal feature. |
