Description: Mundays Hill Quarry, George Garside (Sand) Ltd. (E.C.C.), Heath and Reach, near Leighton Buzzard. Working face in 'Silver Sands', Woburn Sands (Lower Cretaceous). In the south-west corner of the working the 'Silver Sands' are up to 10 m. thick, comprising medium to coarse quartz sand with pebbles of quartz, chert and lydite (up to 5 mm. in diameter) and fragments of carbonized fossil wood. These pure, friable sands are valuable for industrial uses after processing. Photo by permission of the Company.
